The video is two segments from a speech by Bill Gates in February of this year. As with all TED speeches that I am aware of, the entire 30-minutes is available on ted.com.
This is my first real attempt to do more than simply rip a video segment and I'm afraid that it turned out pretty bad. This represents roughly 50 seconds from the beginning (at 3:58) and a 1:20 segment near the end (from 17:20). I can refine the cuts to exact frames, but then my software distorts the colors. Doh.
As you know, Bill Gates has left most of his duties at Microsoft to spend time working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In February, he gave a speech at TED to explain his work and his goals. He emphasized the reduction of our environmental impact as his most cherished goal, which is quite noble. What worries me is that he said twice that vaccines are a good way to reduce population levels.
Vaccines were not the primary purpose for his speech. I tried to include enough other thoughts that this would be clear. I am trying hard not to be a conspiracy theorist.
John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar, is known to have taught that forced sterilization (through food and the water supply) was a good idea. He claims now that he no longer believes that. I hope this is true but, even if it is not, there will be a very big ordeal if the conservatives find out that he has so much as recommended this.
All those worries aside, comments like the ones in this speech are one more reason that people are concerned about black-box vaccines which are inserted directly into their bloodstreams.
