Amateur Night

I've had another blog post planned for the last two weeks, but the abundance of work has kept me from doing the research that is still required for it. In lieue of that serious post, here is one about today.

After a short night, I woke up to get started early. Some time later I looked at the bathroom curtains and realized they were much brighter than they should be for an overcast day. Cue someone opening the curtains. Moments later I strode outside (barefoot) to take a picture of my truck:

Snow-covered truck

But this was only the beginning! I had four places to go in the afternoon, and it kept snowing.

Each stop took longer than it should have so I got back around 11 PM. It turns out to be a great time to be driving on icy roads because there are fewer people to hit. Only kidding. My truck hardly slid at all. The bridge was nice and smooth.

I suppose that isn't too bad for the first time driving in (light) snow? Yes, I'm an amateur. However, the next time friends offer to teach me how to drive in snow -- with snow around -- I might take them up on it. The ice is fun.

Tonight's casualties? The windshield wiper blades are done for. It's a good thing they needed to be replaced anyway.

Congrats.

Nice pic.
Poor blades.

White Fluff...

There was double the snow for the trip home, but I didn't keep a camera handy.

I rather enjoy driving in snow

Driving

Yep. I drove the speed limit for half of the trip home. It really wasn't too bad. There is still more snow today but I don't have a good reason to go out.

Haha!

I'm sure Matt would more than gladly teach you to drive in the snow. It's always an adventure riding with him. You might pick up some bad habits but if you already like the ice and whatnot, it shouldn't be a problem. Grin

Hah, what kind of bad habits?

Hah, what kind of bad habits? I tried to stay in the center lane last night (more buffer space) but when I got to the bridge someone else decided to take it slow (~5-10 MPH). If there had been ice, they would have failed. I did pass them which is considered to be bad by some people.

You went out in the snow

You went out in the snow barefoot? O.O

So?

I've run people down in the snow before while barefooted. After a while it does start to hurt, but for short periods of time it isn't a problem.

Southerners...

...and their reactions to snow always amuse me. Grin Congrats to both you and the Sub on (mostly) surviving your first snow-driving experience! I suggest if you want to learn the full art of winter driving, you come north: it's safer up here. Wink Snow doesn't scare me, but newbie snow-drivers do.

Don't Lie To Me...

I've read Laura Ingalls Wilder. I know that northerners still like playing with the snow at times. I have also lived around plenty of snow. The problem is that I wasn't driving then.

So newbie snow-drivers scare you but you still invite one up north?

We do have fun with it, but

We do have fun with it, but we know how...so it's not that dangerous. Grin

And I didn't say I'd *ride* with you if you came north... 0;-)
